You may want to start with a basic desktop and run software interactively.
- Click on the interactive apps menu
- Choose Basic Desktop
- Fill out the form
- Choose the partition (Use the slurm user guide or schedule a consultation to find the appropriate partition for your work)
- Choose the length in hours your job is expected to run
- Choose the number of cores (cpu)
- Choose the amount of memory needed
- Click the Launch button at the bottom
- A dialog box will pop up for your job. The first time you run, the job will be pending until the available resources are available for your job to run.
- When the job is ready, the bar will be come green and will be running. Be sure to start working as your allocation is now being charged for your job.

IMPORTANT: Disconnecting from your job does not end your job. To end your job, click the Delete button.
Note: If you disconnect from Open OnDemand with a running job, you can reconnect later.
- To connect to your running desktop, click the Launch Basic Desktop button
- This will open a new window with your graphical interface
