Important First Steps to Use Zoom Phone - Post-transition Checklist

Vital 911 Information

  • Softphone Users: If you are using a softphone, you will need to set your location in Zoom for 911 and emergency services. This step is critical because it informs emergency services of your location, when you call 911, if you’re working from another location or different office. Follow the Emergency Address Setup instructions to do so.
  • Deskset Users: If you choose a deskset and you are on a campus network, your Emergency Address Information is populated automatically as the location of your deskset during the installation process. You do not need to enter it manually.

Download Saved Voicemails (optional)

Reminder: Your voicemail box will be deactivated one week from today. You can optionally review and/or download existing voicemails you may need for the future. Ann Arbor Campus, see Microsoft Exchange documentation. Dearborn and Flint Campuses, see Cisco Unity documentation.

Set Up Voicemail

Softphone users: Learn how to record or upload your greeting, or use a provided Zoom greeting.

Deskset users: Learn how to record your voicemail greeting.

Deskset Delivery

Desksets are delivered to individual office locations for people scheduled to receive a deskset as part of their transition to Zoom Phone. Your department is responsible for communicating delivery information to you.

Old Desk Phone Disposal

Old desksets do not work after your number is transitioned and should be removed to eliminate confusion. The disposal process varies depending on your campus. Note to current Cisco Jabber softphone users: see full instructions to uninstall Jabber client from your computer.
