Billing Questions

I have questions about what I have been billed for. How do I get answers?

Any billing questions should be sent to [email protected], including any requests to change financial accounts to be billed.

I need to change my financial account for a past billing cycle retroactively?  How do I do that?

We cannot change the financial account to bill retroactively. We can make changes for this month and the future.  The only way to bill retroactively is to create a journal entry in your department's financial records for the needed months.

My grant is running out. Can I bill my storage to my grant for future months after the grant has expired?

Unfortunately, no.  We can only bill your storage for months that the grant is active.  We cannot bill for future use.  This is both a university and a federal guideline.

I would like to know how much I spend monthly on storage. How would I check that?

You can visit the Research Management Portal and click on Turbo (or Locker/Data Den) to view your cost for your turbo volume, split between how much the UMRCP covers and how much each financial account under your control is being billed.

Is there a special rate for researchers from Michigan Medicine or the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts?

The Med School and the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts offer their PIs subsidized storage volumes. Please refer to the following pages for more information:

  • Michigan Medicine
  • LSA

Is it possible to distribute charges for a volume across multiple financial accounts?

Yes. If you are from Michigan Medicine (Med) or the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (LSA), please contact your local unit support team to assist you. If you are not in one of these units, please contact ARC at [email protected].
