Proposal Management: Obtaining a Friend Account

Overview

Non-UM personnel can obtain access to eResearch by requesting a Friend account. Friend accounts are issued by Information Technology Services (ITS) and allow non-UM personnel access to many campus systems, including eResearch.

You must have a valid email address in order to obtain a Friend account.

Step-by-Step Process

1. Go to https://its.umich.edu/academics-research/research/eresearch.
2. Click Proposal Management Login.
3. Click Need Help?.
   
4. Click About Friend accounts to view the full instructions on How to Set Up a Friend Account.
   Note The instructions are summarized in the steps below.
   
5. Go to https://friend.weblogin.umich.edu/friend/.
6. Enter your email address and click Request.
   
7. Review the Message Sent confirmation screen.
   Notes
   • An email from fr[email protected] will be sent to the address you entered.
   • Allow up to an hour to receive the email.
     
8. Click the Create Friend Account link in the email from [email protected].
9. Enter your email address.
   
10. Enter and re-enter your Password.
11. Click Set Password.
12. Review your Friend Account Created confirmation.
    
13. Go to https://its.umich.edu/academics-research/research/eresearch.
14. Click Proposal Management Login.
15. Enter your Uniqname or Friend ID (the email/Login ID you used to request access) and your Password.
    
16. Click Log In.
17. Enter your contact information.
    Note Required fields are marked with an asterisk (*).
18. Click Save.
    You now have access to eResearch Proposal Management.
