Overview
This explains how to use a basic telephone.
Call Forward
Note: Please do not forward your university phone to a personal or home telephone number in an emergency shut down of the U-M campus. This feature is reserved for critical operations. Instead, please keep your MCommunity profile updated with your preferred contact methods.
- To Forward Calls
- Press access code *96, at special dial tone, dial the 5-digit station number, and receive confirmation tone.
- To Deactivate
- Dial access code *97, hear confirmation tone.
Call Hold
- To Hold Call
- Press TAP (may also say Flash or Link depending on the model of the phone), hear special dial tone, dial access code *99, hear confirmation tone.
- To Return to Held Call
- Hold down switch hook until telephone rings or press TAP (Flash or Link) and dial access code *99.
Call Park
- To Park Call
- Press TAP (Flash or Link), hear special dial tone, dial access code *93, hear confirmation tone.
- To Retrieve Call
- Dial access code *94, dial 5-digit station number where Call Park was initiated.
Call Pickup
- Press *98 to pick up a group call.
Call Transfer
- To Transfer Call
- Press TAP (Flash or Link), hear special dial tone, dial 5-digit station number.
- If Station Answers
- Announce call then replace handset.
- If Busy or No Answer
- Press TAP(Flash or Link) twice.
Call Waiting
- To Connect To Waiting Call
- At the call waiting tone, press TAP (Flash or Link).
- To Return to Original Party
- Press TAP (Flash or Link).
Conference: Three-Way
- To Add Third Party
- Press TAP (Flash or Link), at the special dial tone, dial the number of the third party.
- If Third Party Answers
- Announce conference, press TAP (Flash or Link).
- If Busy or No Answer
- Press TAP (Flash or Link) twice.
Consultation
- To Consult with Another Party
- Press TAP (Flash or Link), at the special dial tone, dial the party to consult.
- If Busy or No Answer or to Return to Original Party
- Press TAP (Flash or Link) twice.
Group Intercom
- Press # and the station’s two-digit intercom code to active.
Last Number Redial (LNR)
- Listen for a dial tone on your telephone.
- Press the (#) twice.
Message Waiting
- To Activate an Indicator
- Press TAP (Flash or Link), hear special dial tone, dial access code *80, hear confirmation tone.
- To Retrieve Messages
- Dial access code *81, request messages.
- To Deactivate Your Own Indicator
- Dial access code *82, hear confirmation tone.
Ring Again
- To Activate
- Listen for the busy tone, press TAP (Flash or Link), wait for the special dial tone, dial access code *95 for confirmation tone.
- When Both Stations Are Free
- Hear Ring Again notification, lift handset, number is automatically dialed.
- To Cancel
- Dial access code *95, hear confirmation tone.
Simultaneous Ring (SimRing)
- To Manage SimRing
- Lift handset and press *110.
- To Turn ON/OFF
- Press 3.
- To Add a Number to List
- Press #9+1+ten digits#.
- To Remove a Number from List
- Press *9+1+ten digits*
- To Hear List Entries: Press 1
- To Delete: Press 07
- To Hear Instructions: Press 0
Speed Calling
- To Program Code
- Dial access code *90 for individual list number or access code *91 for group list number, listen for the special dial tone, dial one-digit code (for individual list number or two-digit code (for group list number) assigned to number being stored, dial 5-digit number, press #, wait for confirmation tone.
- To Activate
- Dial * and the one or two digit code assigned to the stored number and press #.
- To Delete Code
- Dial access code *90 (for individual list number) or access code *91 (for group list number), at the special dial tone, dial one- or two-digit code assigned to number being deleted, press #, listen for the confirmation tone.
