Telephone: Authorization Code (authcode)

Overview

This document provides information on obtaining, using, moving or cancelling authorization codes (authcode). A personal authcode is specifically assigned to you and must be kept confidential. This ensures that billing for all calls is personalized, secure, and authorized. To request an authorization code, have your department ID manager (or proxy) place an order on the Service Request System (SRS).

Authorization codes are individually assigned for making calls from a University phone to an outside number. A personal authcode can be used from most telephones on campus. Intra-university, 911 and other emergency code calls can be made without using an authcode.

Canceling A Personal Authcode

You will keep the same authcode regardless of physical location.

NoteIt is imperative that your department cancel your authorization code if you do not want to use it or if you terminate employment with your department. This ensures that no billing can be generated.
