Placing a Call
Note U-M does not support the Contact List feature.
- Tap Call.
- Tap the circle key pad.
- Enter phone number, 9+ 1+ 10 digit or 5 digit phone number.
- Tap the phone icon.
Placing a Call on Hold
- Answer the incoming call.
- Select the icon with 3 dots to access additional softphone features.
- Select Hold.
- Select Resume to continue the call.
Transferring a Call
Transferring allows the person to transfer a call from the softphone to any other phone on the U-M system.
- Answer the incoming call.
- Click icon with 3 dots.
- Select Transfer.
- Enter the phone number that you would like to transfer in the Search or Call field.
- Select Phone icon next to the phone number.
- Select Arrowed Transfer icon to transfer the call.
Receiving a Call
In order to receive a call, you must be logged in to the Jabber application. U-M standard VPN is required when off the UM Network.
When you receive an incoming call, you’ll see a call window open on your device screen.
- Tap Answer to accept the call
- Tap Decline to forward the call to voicemail
Forwarding Calls
Note: We ask that you do not forward your university phone to a personal or home telephone number in an emergency shut down of the U-M campus. This feature is reserved for critical operations. Please keep in mind that staff members using softphones can log in to the application directly to take calls from home.
- Tap upper left corner of Jabber Application, or swipe right.
- Tap Settings.
- Scroll to Call Forwarding.
- Tap New Number to enter another phone number.
- Enter a phone number, 9+ 1+ 10 digit or 5 digit phone number.
- Click Save.
To Stop Forwarding
- On the Jabber home page, tap the upper left circle, or swipe right.
- Tap Settings.
- Click Do not forward calls.
