Overview
The University of Michigan adds four Cloudflare Cache Rules to each Cloudflare zone. These rules are intended to increase reliability of U-M websites and decrease costs for U-M units on hosting vendors’ platforms, by improving the default cache behavior in Cloudflare. The four Cache Rules are:
Websites that require authentication
Websites that require authentication for all content (no publicly accessible content) are still generally put behind Cloudflare to protect them from DDoS attacks against the web server(s) that the site runs on. Follow the instructions for migrating the website behind Cloudflare in that case.
