Okta MFA for SSH
The university has recently transitioned to Okta for web-based login requests, and ARC currently plans to make a similar change for SSH access to ARC HPC clusters during our June summer maintenance. After the maintenance is complete, users should expect to use Okta as the MFA option for both Open OnDemand and SSH access to ARC HPC clusters.
HPC (High-Performance Computing) - Great Lakes System
Great Lakes will be patched with an updated version of Slurm and Open OnDemand.
HPC (High-Performance Computing) - Armis2 and Lighthouse
- The Data Center Engineering team will be working with contractors to perform the annual preventative maintenance on the data center where Armis2 and Lighthouse are racked.
- Armis2 and Lighthouse will be patched with an updated version of Slurm and Open OnDemand.
Preventative Maintenance Work
- MDC (Main Data Center) Maintenance
- UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) maintenance
HPC Software Updates
During the Summer 2026 maintenance window, ARC will update software defaults to the latest installed versions where appropriate. Several new software versions and updated application stacks will also be made available.
- Spark:
Spark/4.1.1with updated Java/JNI compatibility. - Stata-MP:
StataNow 19.5with updated 2-core and 2+ core job logic. - FlexiBLAS stack: new FlexiBLAS-enabled scientific software stack.
- R:
R/4.6.0linked to FlexiBLAS and built for the GCC 15 software stack. - CUDA:
CUDA/13.2. - cuDNN:
cuDNN/9.22. - OpenJDK:
OpenJDK/26. - SingularityCE:
4.3.7and4.4.1. - Open MPI:
OpenMPI/5.0.10built withPMIx/5.0.10.
Reminder: Users who require a specific software version for reproducibility should load that version explicitly in their job scripts instead of relying on the default module.
After maintenance, users are encouraged to test representative jobs before resuming large production runs.
