In order to connect to the MiServer jump server to access vcenter.umich.edu, you must have a miserver-uniqname account. The account must then be registered with U-M Duo.
- If you do not have a jump account, request one by contacting [email protected]. Provide an MCommunity group of which you are a member, and which owns at least one MiServer VM and an account will be created for you.
- Once the account is created, the temporary credentials will be securely shared with the requestor. You must change the password at the jump server password utility before continuing. When you enter the username, please enter as ‘umroot\miserver-uniqname’.
- Once the password is changed, register the account with ITS Duo. You will be asked to associate the account with an existing U-M account, and to respond to the Duo push.
- The account now has access to the MiServer jump server. Please note, this account does not give you access to vcenter.umich.edu.
The account password will expire in 42 days. An email reminder will be sent 7 days prior to expiration with instructions on how to change it. You may visit the jump server password utility at any time to change the password, even after it expires. Please store your jump user password in a secure location. If you do not know your password, you must contact [email protected] to reset it. The account is monitored for inactivity as a safety precaution and disabled after 65 days of inactivity.
