Setting Up Physical Computers to Join the MiDesktop Environment

Pre-Work

1. Create an MCommunity group dedicated to administrators for managing the Horizon environment.
2. Add the intended end users or groups to the 'Remote Desktop Users' on the machines.
3. Configure firewall ports.
4. Install the Horizon Agent.

Manual Install

1. Download the Horizon Agent installer file from MiDesktop downloads site
   (Horizon View Agent > Windows > VMware-Horizon-Agent-x86_64-2312-8.12.0-23142606.exe)
2. Double-click the installer file.
3. Accept the license agreement and click Next.
4. Select IPV4.
5. Click Next on the Custom Setup.
6. Register with Horizon 8 Connection Server:
   Server name: cs1.midesktop.it.umich.edu
   Authentication: select 'Specify administrator credentials'
   Username: umroot\vdi-pcjoiner
   Password: will be provided upon physical desktop pool request
7. Click Next and follow prompts to finish the installation

Note: Machine will reboot after the install. A reboot is required for the machine to be registered in the View environment.

Silent Install

The Horizon installer can be installed remotely using Active Directory Group Policy, SCCM, or other automation solutions. Please refer to the Omnissa documentation for more information on Horizon Agent automated installation.
