Accessing MiDesktop Pools

MiDesktop features a number of ways for customers to allow end users to securely reach the virtual or physical pools to which they subscribe. Several options are available during ordering, giving you total control:

• Access MiDesktop from virtually anywhere: midesktop.umich.edu
• Require users to be on a university network or use the U-M Cisco AnyConnect VPN: local2fa.midesktop.it.umich.edu
• The MiDesktop team can create custom DNS aliases for customers to access their pools. Example: YourUnit.midesktop.it.umich.edu
• Access to MiDesktop pools is granted via entitlements. An entitlement allows a user or group to access pools from any web browser or the Horizon desktop client
• MiDesktop can be accessed with limited features from any web browser, but the Horizon client can also be used to enhance the user experience. This adds such capabilities as allowing access to local resources on the user’s device. The client can be downloaded at the MiDesktop clients download site. Android and Apple users may download the Horizon client from their respective app stores. Customers may also choose to limit desktop logons to using the client solely.
