VPN: Download the iOS Cisco Secure Client

Download and Configure the VPN Client

  1. Download and install Cisco Secure Client from the App Store.
  2. Open the installed application.
  3. Select Connections, then Add VPN Connection.
    • Staff, faculty, students, or sponsored affiliates should enter umvpn.umnet.umich.edu as the Server Address in the Connection Editor.
  4. Tap Save.
  5. Tap Allow on the pop up that opens requesting permission to add VPN Connections.
    1. If you have TouchID enabled, you may be asked for your fingerprint. 
    2. If you a have a lock enabled, it will ask you to verify.

Connect Using the VPN

Important You must have a network connection to connect via the VPN.
  1. Open the Cisco Secure Client (AnyConnect) application.
  2. Ensure the VPN connection you just created is selected. 
  3. Tab the AnyConnect VPN toggle to on. 
  4. When prompted, authenticate using your university uniqname and UMICH password.
  5. Complete multi-factor authentication. 
Note: The UMVPN - All Traffic profile is automatically selected. Hit back to select the UMVPN - Only U-M Traffic profile from the drop-down.
