Web-based Interface and Desktop Client: When to Use Which?

If you have hardcopy, paper documents that you plan to scan, index and store in the Document Imaging system, depending on your volume/usage, you can use either the desktop client version of the software (called Perceptive Content) or the web version of the system, accessible via Wolverine Access > Document Imaging.  The desktop client is only available for use with the Windows operating system.

  • The desktop client is available for MiWorkspace-supported units via the Software Center.
  • For units not supported by MiWorkspace, please contact your local unit IT.

If you have electronic documents that you plan to index and store in the Document Imaging system, we recommend that you use the web version of the system.

If you only need to search for and view documents in the Document Imaging system, the web version is the recommended method.

Notes:

  • ITS is phasing out the general use of the desktop client, and transitioning users to the web version of the system.

  • If you have never accessed the system before, please see Getting Access for more information.

  • If you plan to start uploading documents for the first time, or have any questions, please submit a ticket for assistance in getting a specific configuration setup for you.
