Placing a Call
- Click the More Call Controls (three-dot menu icon) in the active call window.
- Click the phone icon next to the Search or Call field.
Important: When entering a non-UM number, enter a 9+1 before the ten-digit phone number.
Receiving A Call
To receive a call, the Jabber application needs to be open. If your phone number is called and Jabber is closed, the caller will be sent to voicemail (if a voicemail box exists).
Note: Cisco Jabber requires access to the U-M Network. When off the U-M Network, enable the UM-VPN on your device.
When receiving an incoming call, a call window opens on the screen:
- Click Answer to accept the call.
- Click Decline to forward the call to voicemail.
Placing a Call on Hold
- In the active call window, click More.
- Select Hold to place the call on hold.
- Click Resume to return to the call.
Creating a Conference Call
While you are on a call that you wish to turn into a conference call:
- Click the More Call Controls (three-dot menu icon) in the active call window.
- Dial the second caller:
- Enter the phone number in the Jabber hub Search or Call field.
- Click the phone icon next to the Search or Call field.
- Finally, merge the calls to create the conference:
- Click the More Call Controls (three-dot menu icon) in the active call window.
- Select Merge with... (the first caller's number).
Transferring a Call
Transferring allows you to transfer a call from your softphone to any other phone on the U-M system.
- Click the More Call Controls (three-dot menu icon) in the active call window.
- Click Transfer.
- Enter the phone number to which you want to transfer the call in the Search box.
Important: When entering a non-UM number, enter a 9+1 before the ten-digit phone number.
- Click the Phone icon.
- Click Transfer to complete the transfer.
Forwarding Calls
- Click the Jabber window icon for Call Settings located to the right of your phone number, under the Call History.
- In the Forward Call to: section:
- Select among the listed numbers (numbers to which you’ve recently forwarded your calls) or
- Click New Number to enter another phone number:
- Enter a phone number including 9+ 1+ before the ten-digit phone number. .
- Click Forward.
To stop forwarding:
- Click the Jabber window icon for Call Settings located to the right of your phone number, under the Call History.
- Scroll to select Forward Calls to: and select Do Not Forward Calls from the drop-down list.
How to Clear Call History
Right-click on a recent or missed call to delete the item.
Sign Out of Jabber From Windows
- Open the Jabber app.
- Select the gear in the upper right corner of Jabber window.
- Select Sign Out. This will log you out of the Jabber Client.
