This document provides instructions for adding or updating Duo two-factor authentication options. This includes:
- Add a device or phone number.
- Reactivate the Duo Mobile app (when you get a new phone with the same number or when your Duo Mobile app stops receiving push notifications).
- Delete a phone number or device (if it’s lost, stolen, or no longer needed).
- Rename a device.
Change Your Duo Options and Settings
- Go to Duo device management and log in.
Note The device management page opens in a new window/tab and has duosecurity.com in the URL.
- To add a device or phone number:
- Click Add a device.
- Select the applicable option (Duo Mobile app, security key, or phone number).
- Enter the phone number and continue with the following steps, or complete the onscreen prompts to verify a security key.
- Click Continue.
- Click Yes, it’s correct if the correct phone number appears.
- Click Send me a passcode or Or call my phone.
- Verify the phone call or enter the passcode that was sent to your phone.
- Click Verify.
- If you are adding Duo Mobile, open the app on your device and scan the QR code.
- To reactivate Duo Mobile when you get a new phone with the same number:
- Click I have a new phone .
- Click Get started.
- If you have not done so already, download and install the Duo Mobile app on your new phone.
- Click Next.
- Open the Duo Mobile app on your phone and scan the QR code that displays on your computer screen.
- To delete a device:
- Click Edit for the device or phone number.
- Click Delete.
- Click Delete and click Delete again.
- To rename a device:
- Click Edit for the device or phone number.
- Click Rename.
- Enter a new device name and click Rename.
If you add or remove a device, you will receive both a Duo Mobile App push notification and an email notification to verify that you initiated the change. See Duo Add / Remove Device Notifications for more information.
