Manage Your Duo Options and Settings

This document provides instructions for adding or updating Duo two-factor authentication options. This includes:

  • Add a device or phone number.
  • Reactivate the Duo Mobile app (when you get a new phone with the same number or when your Duo Mobile app stops receiving push notifications).
  • Delete a phone number or device (if it’s lost, stolen, or no longer needed).
  • Rename a device.

Change Your Duo Options and Settings

  1. Go to Duo device management and log in.

Note The device management page opens in a new window/tab and has duosecurity.com in the URL.

  1. To add a device or phone number:
    1. Click Add a device.
    2. Select the applicable option (Duo Mobile app, security key, or phone number).
    3. Enter the phone number and continue with the following steps, or complete the onscreen prompts to verify a security key.
    4. Click Continue.
    5. Click Yes, it’s correct if the correct phone number appears.
    6. Click Send me a passcode or Or call my phone.
    7. Verify the phone call or enter the passcode that was sent to your phone.
    8. Click Verify.
    9. If you are adding Duo Mobile, open the app on your device and scan the QR code.
  2. To reactivate Duo Mobile when you get a new phone with the same number:
    1. Click I have a new phone .
    2. Click Get started.
    3. If you have not done so already, download and install the Duo Mobile app on your new phone.
    4. Click Next.
    5. Open the Duo Mobile app on your phone and scan the QR code that displays on your computer screen.
  3. To delete a device:
    1. Click Edit for the device or phone number.
    2. Click Delete.
    3. Click Delete and click Delete again.
  4. To rename a device:
    1. Click Edit for the device or phone number.
    2. Click Rename.
    3. Enter a new device name and click Rename.

If you add or remove a device, you will receive both a Duo Mobile App push notification and an email notification to verify that you initiated the change. See Duo Add / Remove Device Notifications for more information.
