Overview

Instructions for installing MiBackup for Windows.

Install MiBackup (TSM Client)

  1. Download TSM client from the IBM website
  2. Install the TSM client on the remote server accepting all defaults
  3. Create the following dsm.opt file within “C:\Program Files\Tivoli\TSM\baclient” and make sure the servername is the same client name registered as the TSM node:

  1. Launch the command prompt
  2. Change the working directory to “C:\Program Files\Tivoli\TSM\baclient”
  3. Run the following command to install the TSM Central Scheduler Service: dsmcutil install /name:"TSM Central Scheduler Service" /node: /password: /autostart:no /startnow:no
  4. Run the following command to install the TSM Client Acceptor service: dsmcutil install CAD /name:"TSM Client Acceptor" /cadschedname:"TSM Central Scheduler Service" /node: /password:<TSM password in password safe> /autostart:yes /startnow:yes
  5. Log into the fat client to confirm that you are able to connect to the backup server. Perform a test backup from the client
  6. View C:\Program Files\Tivoli\TSM\baclient\dsmsched.log to verify the daily backup is successful

Remove MiBackup (TSM Client)

  1. Launch the command prompt
  2. Change the working directory to “C:\Program Files\Tivoli\TSM\baclient”
  3. Run the following command to remove the TSM Central Scheduler Service: dsmcutil remove /name:"TSM Central Scheduler Service" /node:<servername>
  4. Run the following command to remove the TSM Client Acceptor service: dsmcutil remove /name:"TSM Client Acceptor"
  5. Go to the control panel and click on the Uninstall Program link
  6. Find IBM Tivoli Storage Manager Client and select it then click the Uninstall button
